Well, it was a smashing success!

My husband and I went to a special invite-only dinner at the Horse & Hound earlier this week, and we both came away very impressed. Besides the fine beer selection (which my husband gave a big thumbs up), I had a salmon and corn creme brulee that was very interesting and delicious. In general, everything was well put together and just a little bit different (not surprising given Luther & Brooke's creativity)! I think we can all look forward to a lot of meals there.

The horses are on the track!

This past week I stopped by the new Horse & Hound gastropub as my friends, Luther and Brooke, were in the middle of renovations, and what they've done with the old Blue Bird Cafe (which had been showing its age, let's face it) is really remarkable! They will be ready to go by the end of the month, so I encourage everyone to show up for a pint and some chips!

Something special coming to Charlottesville!

I enjoy the restaurant scene here in C-Ville, and I am always interested whenever a new place opens around here, but I've never been as excited as I am about the opening of the Horse & Hound in the former Blue Bird Cafe spot. On its own merits, a British gastropub-style restaurant is something new and different in an already bustling restaurant scene, but what makes this place exciting to me are the owners, Luther & Brooke Fedora. They're wonderful friends, and believe me, they're wonderful cooks. They have got the enthusiasm, the energy, and the talent to make this place special. My husband and I will be there when the doors open, and I encourage everyone else to give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.
