A tale of two cities...

There's Charlottesville in the summer, and Charlottesville the rest of the year, with about twenty thousand extra residents. The University of Virginia students returned this weekend, and Route 29 was suddenly packed bumper-to-bumper, all the restaurants were full, and hopefully you didn't try to shop at Bed, Bath, & Beyond on Saturday. Charlottesville in the summer is certainly wonderful and charming, but there's something to be said for walking on the Lawn in the fall and people-watching as the football fans gather on the Corner. It's still August, but with the arrival of the students we can say goodbye to summer now!

What's the best of the best?

Charlottesville has already been called the best city in which to live, and our local magazine just finished its annual "Best Of" poll. It's always a great read, and a great way to start a spirited debate in Charlottesville. Click here to find this year's winners, then feel free to add your opinions in the comments section!
