Michelle's Angels

Michelle Obama's national Let's Move campaign stresses the importance of healthy food and physical activity. One out of three children in America is overweight or obese! Here is a local way to get involved!
This petition is being widely discussed around Charlottesville. I am strongly in support of it and I really look forward to the Charlottesville's School Board Meeting on June 2nd.

My daughter is not in school yet and our Children's Healthy Eating Committee is a grassroots organization started by parents in her Child Development Center. Take a look at the pictures of our bulletin board.

Green Change Agents meeting

Jeff Perry of Piedmont Radiant spoke this morning at Green Change Agents Meeting. Lots of info about hydronic heating, radiant in floor heat, very high efficiency boilers & water heaters, solar systems and more. Very good presentation! If your waterheater is old and you are on the market to get a new one, talk to Jeff Perry. "Green" systems are a bit more expensive but environment conscientious consumers sometimes are willing and prepared to pay more.

Bike Week in Charlottesville!

next week is a bike week in C'ville. There are a lot of bike lanes and a lot of bicyclists in town but I personally still think it is a bit dangerous to ride a bike, especially in a rush hour. Some drivers are aggressive and not respectful of bikers. I hope this week will bring awareness to bikers, drivers and pedestrians. We need to learn how to coexist in our town and how to safely share the road.

Townhall Meeting for Fry's Spring and Johnson Village residents

last night was very well attended. City officials, including Charlottesville Mayor Norris, listened to residents' concerns and wishes. JPA bridge construction, local businesses, sidewalks, safe bicycle lanes, reservoir, density, OLR project, Azalea Park, and more were discussed. I loved the idea of having a Free Trolley go to Fry's Spring Beach Club (as they used to in the 50s) on its way to/from Downtown.

Charlottesville Recognized Nationally for being a Walkable City

..."Charlottesville is among only eleven communities recognized in the inaugural round of Walk Friendly Communities announced. The Walk Friendly Community designation, awarded from bronze to platinum, is given to applicant communities that have demonstrated a commitment to improving and sustaining walkability and pedestrian safety through comprehensive programs, plans and policies."
How great is that!? I certainly try to take advantage of Charlottesville's walkability as often as possible. Morning walks to the Lawn are my favorite.

Consider the source

it's interesting when renters say bad things about the property they live in. Do they have Purchaser's best interest at heart? Do they just want to scare away the buyer, so they don't have to move? My advice- listen but don't believe everything you hear, always verify from a trusted and knowledgeable source.
